Light & Shadow
"Point Cut"
Sheet Steel; Light
After seeing Hendee's work, I wanted to create something inspired by his pieces but still reflect my personal aesthetics. I approached the project wanting to create a fairly geometric shape based around a diamond shape but still have a line of light cutting through the piece. The final piece ended up being a rhombic fusel octahedral opened up in the middle where the two short halves meet.

Stephen Hendee, born in 1968, attended the Art Institute of Chicago, the San Francisco Art Institute (BFA), and Stanford University (MFA). His work often makes references to both film and literature. It is heavily inspired by digital culture and his pieces convey vectorized properties of digital art. Much of his work is created on Autodesk CAD and sent to a laser cutter and then assembled.
